The bite plate incorporates multiple radiographic markers (fiducial markers). The patient wears the bite plate during the 3D CBCT scanning process. The fiducial markers are  visible in the 3D X-ray and help the clinician to verify the accuracy of the CBCT scan, allows easy matching with other files and can be used for the design of the surgical guide or an orthodontic aligner.
